Ms. Murphy's 6th Grade High Ability Class
Welcome to 6th grade! I am Leslie Murphy, and I will be spending the next 10 months with your child. I am very excited to get the year started. I have a lot planned for us this year.
I graduated from Peru High School in 1990. After graduation, I attended Indiana University at Bloomington and graduated with my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1995. I have three beautiful children…Josie and her husband, Alex. Emma, and Jimmy. I have the most precious granddaughters, Kinsley and Alex!
My philosophy is simple…I want to bring learning to life. I want my students to come away from my classroom with many positive, hands-on learning experiences. I believe that more will be remembered by “doing”, rather than just “reading” the material. I am a type of person that needs that excitement as well. I want my students to be motivated to learn. I am a firm believer of differentiated instruction. How one child learns is not how every child learns. I will find what works best for your child.
My goals are simple…I will work my hardest to get your child ready for his/her next step. I know what is expected of them at this age and I want the transition to be easier for them. RESPECT is something that I want from each and every child. I promise to treat each student with respect and I expect it from them. I see our class as a team. We all need to work together for the success of each student. I want to see growth on the standardized tests we take throughout the year. I want my students to leave my classroom and feel good about their 6th grade experience.
You are your child’s greatest teacher. I want us to work together to have a successful year. Any questions or concerns, please contact me. I can be reached at the school or by e-mail: [email protected]. Together we will solve any problems for your child and ensure that your child has success.
Looking forward to a great year!
