Welcome to 5th Grade

Hello!  I've been teaching at Blair Pointe for 30 years. I graduated from Peru High School in 1989, received my college degree from IUK, and my master's from Olivet Nazarene. My lovely wife and I have been married for 27 years.  We have three beautiful daughters and two grandchildren. 

     I believe in learning by doing, so I do a lot of hands-on activities in my class.  An old  Chinese proverb says, "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, but I do and I understand."  I expect your child to work hard and give 100%, be respectful, be honest, and follow directions.  The word "can't" is not used allowed in my classroom.  They will have a "I think I can" attitude about everything we do.

     I look forward to working with and getting to know your child.  My goal for the class is for them to advance to the 6th grade with a sense of pride and a feeling of accomplishment for all their hard work.  There is a saying that I teach by, "Children don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care, and when they see how much you care, they will show you how much they know."  My hope is to instill in your child a love for learning that will stick with them for a lifetime.
