Mrs. Linkenhoker's Class Had Bandits in the Room to Wrap-Up a Math Unit
Mrs. Linkenhoker's 4th grade classroom turned into a crime scene. The Place Value Bandits stole something from room 113! Students worked together solving 19 clues to answer the riddle. The riddle is "Why did the two 4's skip lunch?" The bandits could be anyone! What did they steal?
Mrs. Linkenhoker chose to use this hands-on learning after completing Unit 1 in math. She stated, "The students learned - place value through the millions, expanded form, word form, and standard form of numbers to the million, and how to compare whole numbers through the millions."
Students used soft start to investigate the room. They wrote down all their suspects: Mr. Mathews. Mrs. Clark, Mr. Hoover, Mr. Martin, Mr. Linkenhoker, and Benji. The students went on with their day, noticing little things that they thought were moved or missing.
After a hard day of solving problems to learn clues, the riddle was solved and the bandits were identified.
Now, what you have all been waiting for...the riddle answer: because they already 8. And who were the bandits that stole the chicken, Hei Hei...none other than Mrs. Linkenhoker's own children!
