Blair Pointe art teacher, Julie Brower, has been busy working with students to start the new year. Check out the different artwork in the photos from the gallery below to see the creativity from the students.

6th grade students from Miss Donathan and Ms. Murphy's 6th grade are showing their Tiger spirit! They have been working on their tiger portraits, inspire by famous artist Tamera Phillips.

5th grade students in Mrs. Zak's class created fluorescent fall leaves!

4th grade students in Mrs. Wylam's class studied value and made these amazing value cactuses!

3rd grade students in Mrs. Wynn and Mrs. Gray's class learned how to weave watermelon and studied famous artist Piet Mondrian. They created their very own abstract art!
We can't wait to see what the halls will be decorated with next.

Mrs. Linkenhoker's 4th grade classroom turned into a crime scene. The Place Value Bandits stole something from room 113! Students worked together solving 19 clues to answer the riddle. The riddle is "Why did the two 4's skip lunch?" The bandits could be anyone! What did they steal? 

Mrs. Linkenhoker chose to use this hands-on learning after completing Unit 1 in math. She stated, "The students learned - place value through the millions, expanded form, word form, and standard form of numbers to the million, and how to compare whole numbers through the millions."

Students used soft start to investigate the room. They wrote down all their suspects: Mr. Mathews. Mrs. Clark, Mr. Hoover, Mr. Martin, Mr. Linkenhoker, and Benji. The students went on with their day, noticing little things that they thought were moved or missing.

After a hard day of solving problems to learn clues, the riddle was solved and the bandits were identified.

Now, what you have all been waiting for...the riddle answer: because they already 8. And who were the bandits that stole the chicken, Hei Hei...none other than Mrs. Linkenhoker's own children!

Students in Ms. Murphy's class are "ditching" their laptops on Tuesdays to focus more on hands-on with critical thinking skills in all subject areas. Students are very excited to leave their laptops in their bags on Tuesdays. They will still be challenged academically, but take a break from screen time.
Bennett Peck, 6th grade student said, "I like having the option to do things differently. The square puzzles are tough and it's fun to play chess."
"There are several activities I used before the laptop days and I know they are great hands-on activities for my students that will drive creativity, critical thinking, group work, and all around strong academics. It is awesome to see the students get excited to do this," said 6th grade teacher Leslie Murphy.

We are thrilled to recognize Jasmine Wohlford and Harper Bender for their success in "The Juried Exhibition of Student Art".
Competing against 11,000 peers from 54 counties across the state is a remarkable feat. Congratulations to our talented artists and to all the participants who represented our school so well.
Jasmine Wohlford said that she is glad to be recognized because the arts are important to her and other students. "To be recognized in one of the biggest competitions in Indiana makes me happy," Wohlford added.

Students and staff began a new year August 6 and everyone is excited to get back at it.
Mr. Weeks, 5th grade teacher, has been welcoming students for 31 years. He looks forward to meeting new challenges and experiences with new faces.
4th grade student, Kinsley Murphy, was excited to get back to school so she can spend time with her friends at recess.

Sixth grade teachers at Blair Pointe have challenged their students to read books in their lexile and pass the tests through Accelerated Reader. This nine-weeks, the students are participating in the AR 500. For each book at their lexile that they pass, they receive a racecar. They must earn four racecars to earn a spot in relay races they will have at the end of the competition.
The teachers can see an excitement in the students once they pass their test to earn their car and attach it to the racetrack in the hallway.
"The race makes me think that my points from reading have more of a reason," said Amelia Reed.
Jace Johnson added, "Earning a prize makes me want to read more, so I am glad we are doing this."
The end of the year goes quickly and sometimes students slow down and think ahead to summer, but at Blair Pointe, the sixth grade students are still going strong and racing to the end of the year in a positive way.

Blair Pointe has amazing artists and 3 students were recognized at the Lion's Club meeting for their participation in the 2025-2026 Peace Poster Contest.
Trace Clemons came in 3rd place; Emma York came in 2nd place, and Jasmine Wohlford came in 1st. All 3 students are current 6th graders.
Jasmine's piece was not only 1st place out of the 6th grade students at Blair Pointe, but she was also 1st in the district and 2nd in the state level. That is quite an accomplishment!
